Snap Cubes Dilema (And a freebie)
Went to a workshop over the summer and got this great idea. Here it is with a freebie!
So now we are using snap cubes to copy figures. It’s great! The kids count as they create the objects exactly how they are on the card.
My favorites are the numbers, so here they are for free of course. As I make others for thematic units, I will post those as well too! (I already have my zoo ones done if you look in my store.)

ABC Station FREEBIE
One of the activities that my Kinders can do at the ABC station is to read ABC books. I have several in a basket. I created this sheet to go with that activity.
1. They choose an ABC book
2. Write the title of the book on their recording sheet
3. In each box, I have programmed a letter. They need to find that page in the ABC book.
4. Draw a picture and label it.
5. They also need to write the letter of their first name, find a picutre, draw and label it.
6. Same with the first letter of their last name.
I included a blank sheet that you can copy and add your own letters. We use SF Reading Street and the first letters that we introduce are M and T.

Fall Freebies for you!
Don't you love the fall season? I enjoy this time of the year with my kinders! I love all the engaging activities that the fall season brings.
Here is an example of some of the skills I have been working on for my reading groups this week.... beginning letter sound match, word cards to match and a syllable sort. Come over to my blog to download it for free!
October Read The Room FREEBIE!!
I don't know if the rest of you are as tired as I am! I just can't get caught up! I hope that I never have to move rooms AGAIN! I love my new room, but whew...2 days before Open House is just not enough time! I am STILL unpacking boxes. I have daughters that play volleyball and soccer. One in middle school, one in high school, and one in elementary school. We are pretty much never home at night! Well, I am home right now and getting ready to watch my Huskers whip up on some Wyoming boooootay! GO BIG RED!! So, here is a FREEBIE for you!
I am almost completely "UP AND RUNNING" with my Literacy Work Stations! I will introduce read the room next week. Usually, for Read The Room I use die cuts from my school. I cut out the same seasonal shape (pumpkin, leaf, apple, etc) for the month in: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, pink, white, brown, black and white. I always laminate them first, then I can write any words or letters that I want on them. Every month the RTR sheets are in the same color order.
At the beginning of school we have two weeks where we have a color of the day. We work on recognizing that color and reading that color word. The kids bring in pictures of that color. I use these pictures to create our color word posters for our room. I will take a picture and post later. I hang them on the wall in the same order as my RTR sheets. Clear as mud?! LOL! So, head on over to my blog to grab your FREEBIE!

I admit... I don't like to read! (Don't hate!)
That's right.... I am not reader by choice! My kids of course don't know this!
However, because of this I encourage my kids to read everywhere instead of just books. I post these in my library so the kids connect that reading is everywhere! Some things I post are bills, recipes, and maps!
Stop by to see other great pictures and ideas on how I use them during instruction!
Have a great weekend!

The SECRET to Early Readers
Do you want to have students who are reading and writing early in the school year?
Come on over to my blog to find out more about the system that I use.
This system has been a SUCCESS for me year after year. My students always begin to read and write early in the school year. Come see how your students can feel successful. You will have parents that are proud of their children and administrators will be impressed when they walk into YOUR classroom full of independent readers and writers!

Writing With Spaghetti???!!!@@ What?? Yup and a Freebie Too!@
Okay, so I was thinking about what can be straight and curve to form letters, numbers, and shapes and I came up with SPAGHETTI! Of course, I could never just do anything simple or plain, so I cooked up spaghetti with food dye and oil to make BLUE spaghetti. How fun is that?
I just plop a pile on the students' tables on top of a paper towel and they go to work making lines and curves. We did their names first (I just wrote their names really big on a strip of paper), but then I decided we should review the basic shapes. I wanted to see if the ones who had difficulty with the various curves and lines in letters would have an easier time with simple shapes and, in doing my research, the answer is YES. Next time, I will definitely start with simple shapes.
And then, of course, they can eat whatever is left over. They have been asking to do this activity again, so I think we will do it for the numbers 1-10!
Here is the page I designed to test out Spaghetti Writing:
